Excerpt: “Migrants are coming from all over Mexico, southern Mexico, but also other parts of Mexico where it is perceived that ports of entry are walled or where better walling in those areas make it harder to get across. So what they’re doing is they are sector shopping for the easy routes in. And this happens to be one off the easy sectors…perceived as easy to get through and into the United States and be released. And so just in the past week in this sector, about 5,700 migrants crossed over and were apprehended or got away. About 1,700 got away, estimated. Which compares to about in the low hundreds on a normal week. So we’re really seeing a major, major spike happening in this sector because it’s perceived to be forgiving and easy to get through.”
